TMZ.com is reporting that Whitney's death might be the result of drowning. As new information is revealed, Whitney was not alone in her hotel room on the day that she died. She was accompanied by two bodyguards, a hairdresser, and stylist were in the hotel room waiting to get her ready for the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy party to which Whitney was supposed to host later that night.
According to reports, Whitney had been in the bathroom for over an hour when the bodyguards began knocking on the door to the bathroom to check on her. When there was no response from Whitney, the stylist, who is also a female, when in to check on her and found her with her face underwater and her legs were up, as if she had sunk or slid down into the tub. The stylist upon seeing this screamed and the bodyguards came in and removed her body from the tub and tried to revive her with CPR.
At the time EMT workers had arrived, Whitney was out of the bathtub but unresponsive. Whitney was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.
Early reports state that there was no evidence of any illegal drugs or alcohol in the hotel room, but Whitney did have several prescription bottles in the room, including Xanax.
Bobbi Kristina, who was also in town and at the hotel was denied access to the room when she heard of her mother's passing. She became angry and shouted at police officers and security guards who would not allow Bobbi into the room to see her mother. Dione Warwick, Whitney's cousin, also tried to get into the room, but was also denied access.
Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of Whitney, was on tour with his old bandmates New Edition. Some of the guys in New Edition released statements saying that they were very saddened by this loss and Bobby Brown was having crying fits on and off. New Edition was scheduled to perform in Mississippi, and Bobby did take the stage but broke down in the middle of a performance.
There will undoubtedly be more on this story once an autopsy is performed and result come in. I am deeply saddened by such a tragic loss. Whitney was a remarkable talent and will be greatly missed.
