JayZ announced he will be the curator as well as headline an upcoming music festival at the Philadelphia Made In America Music Festival, which will also benefit the United Way.
Yesterday, Philly Mayor Micheal Nutter announced with JayZ the Budweiser Made In America two day music festival which will be held over the Labor Day weekend.
JayZ was joined with Philly rapper Freeway when he told a crowd at the Philadelphia Museum of Art:
"Everyone knows my love
affair with Philly from the amazing, talented artists I've signed from
here...Whenever I enter into a project, I try to hit on some touch
points. The first thing is: Is it great? The second one is: Is it gonna
push the culture forward?"
There will be 3 stages and 30 acts throughout the festival which will take place on September 1st & 2nd at Fairmount Park. This will not be a hip hop festival, as there will be a variety of music, from hip hop, rock, R&B, Latin, and Dance music.
While JayZ is the only person confirmed for this event, we can imagine that other acts such as wife Beyonce, and BFF Kanye will also be added to the roster to perform. Some suspect Coldplay may also be part of the festival.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
